A well pump generally lasts between 8 and 15 years, depending on the model and how often it's used.  Proper maintenance can help extend its life.

A well must be abandoned when it is no longer in use, cannot be repaired, or poses a risk to groundwater contamination.  Proper abandonment follows local and state environmental guidelines.  It is sometimes required as well when a property is being sold in a real estate transaction.

This usually happens when there's a pressure issue in the system, often related to the pressure tank or a small leak.  It's a common problem and something a professional should check, to prevent well pump damage.

Low water pressure is usually caused by a pressure system issue, such as a failing pressure switch, a problem with the pressure tank, or a clogged filter.  These are common issues and can usually be fixed once identified.  Catching it early helps prevent bigger problems later on.

Sediment in your water is usually caused by naturally occurring minerals or a problem with the well system, such as a damaged pipe or an aging filter that needs replacement.  A professional well contractor can determine the exact cause.
